Arizona gains another Mexican Gray Wolf at SWCC in Scottsdale | Environment

Arizona is up another Mexican Gray Wolf, as Fox Mountain F1188 arrives at the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center (SWCC). 

This was the female Mexican Gray Wolf who was originally ordered to be shot and killed when found in New Mexico. 

SWCC is located in Scottsdale, and they have reported the female is in good health.  It was at SWCC’s request that the wolf not be killed and instead relocated to their facility.  F1188 had been wanted for ‘depredation of cattle’, back in August.  SWCC paid for the live capture and offered to give her a permanent home.   

F1188 is currently adjusting to her surroundings and is housed alone, but has other Mexican Gray wolves around her.  She will be moved to her permanent enclosure and introduced to another Mexican Gray wolf, so that she will have a companion.  Current plans have F1188 off exhibit at the SWCC nature center. 

SWCC does house other mammals native to Arizona, such as mountain lions, black bears, bobcats and many other species, and all can be viewed by the public.
