While there was no construction work going on, on the tent for temporary kennels at Pima Animal Care Center, the concrete slab has been poured and is just sitting there curing.
The cure will take about a week to complete, then the next step is to drill anchors for the 120’ x 60’ tent. The rain last week was more helpful than a hinderance to concrete crews, as the rain helps slow down the process, allowing the concrete to become even stronger.
The tent itself arrived in Tucson from California two weeks ago. It likely will be installed over a two-day period sometime the first week of December.
Once the tent is erected, work will proceed on finalizing utility connections to allow for electricity, running water and heating and cooling. A perimeter fence also will be installed to increase the safety of the dogs.
Kennels are tentatively scheduled to arrive between December 25 and January 8.
